We are excited to support the Isle of Wight Apprenticeship Bus Initiative, a fantastic project designed to inspire the next generation of young people to explore apprenticeships as a pathway to their future careers.
About the Event
The initiative invites apprentices aged 16–26 to volunteer for a unique opportunity during National Apprenticeship Week. Over three days—11th, 12th, and 13th February—a group of apprentices will visit three secondary schools across the Isle of Wight.
The day runs from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, starting and ending in central Newport, with lunch provided for participants.
What Apprentices Will Do
At each school, apprentices will participate in speed networking sessions with Year 10 students. They’ll share their career and educational journeys, answer questions, and showcase their industries. This is a chance for apprentices to inspire young people and highlight the diverse opportunities apprenticeships can offer.
How Your Business Can Get Involved
We’re calling on local businesses to volunteer their apprentices for this rewarding initiative. To take part:
1. Provide permission for your apprentice to join the event.
2. Liaise with their educational provider for approval.
3. Email ekine.fernandez-lane@portsmouthcc.gov.uk from a work email to confirm participation.
This is a wonderful way for businesses to demonstrate their commitment to apprenticeships and support the future workforce of the Isle of Wight.
For more information, please get in touch or contact the Ekine Fernandez-Lane directly. Let’s work together to inspire the next generation!
