We build strong relationships with employers across the Isle of Wight
A key focus of our work is building strong relationships with employers across the Isle of Wight. This connection benefits both students and schools, as it enables young people to engage with reputable local employers, gaining insights and experience that guide them into the world of work. Over the past 5 years, we’ve seen great success in helping young people secure their desired careers, apprenticeships, or education courses.
Our partnerships are equally beneficial to employers, allowing them to give back to the community while discovering potential future employees.

After managing a West End hotel with my wife, we purchased The Seaview Hotel in 1980. From the start, we prioritised staff well-being, fostering a positive work environment that led to exceptional service for our customers.
Through a local training company, we also offered opportunities to excluded students, helping them thrive and become valued team members. Our approach earned regional and national recognition, including a Queen’s Award for Business Excellence in 2002.
After selling the hotel, I co-founded the Island Careers Partnership with Richard White, John Trotter and Didi Nicholson, bridging the gap between education and business to inspire young people toward sustainable career paths.

After qualifying as a solicitor in the 1970s, I joined a small two-person firm in London. Over time, I became a partner and eventually senior partner at what is now Bates Wells, a leading firm in Charity law.
I have served as a trustee for several prominent charities over the years, and after moving to the Island full-time, I joined Mountbatten. Following my term as a trustee there, I teamed up with Nick Hayward, Richard White and Didi Nicholson to help form the Island Careers Partnership. I share their passion for ensuring young people on the Island are informed and inspired about career opportunities both locally and beyond.

After many years living abroad in the USA, Spain, and Brazil, working in publishing and the travel industry, I returned to the family home on the Isle of Wight in 2014. Since then, I’ve focused on supporting young people and education on the Island.
As a trustee of both the Island Careers Partnership and The Royal Yacht Squadron Foundation, I’ve organized successful maritime careers fairs, fostering connections between businesses and schools. I also helped establish the Island’s Literacy Hub and served four years as chair of governors at a local primary school.
Outside of these roles, I’m a keen sailor and, in 2021, completed a two-handed sail around Great Britain in my 26-foot boat. I live with my husband Edward, and we have three children.
