Celebrating 10 Years of Opportunity
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Royal Yacht Squadron Isle of Wight Foundation—a local charity that has helped transform the futures of around 300 young Islanders, particularly in the marine and maritime sectors.
Since 2015, the Foundation has awarded over £500,000 in grants, enabling young people to access training, qualifications, and equipment needed to launch careers in areas like marine engineering, sailing, and shipbuilding. Their support has helped local talent progress into roles from ferry captains to superyacht crew and maritime technicians.
Island Careers Partnership is proud to champion organisations like the RYS Foundation that open doors for the next generation. We’re also privileged to have Didi Nicholson—a trustee of both our partnership and the Foundation—supporting this vital work that connects young people with real opportunities.
As the Foundation looks ahead to its second decade, it remains committed to building skills, confidence, and connections that change lives.
