The Island Careers Partnership (ICP) has launched a new Employer Engagement Plan aimed at strengthening ties between Isle of Wight businesses and local students.
The plan seeks to improve career opportunities by facilitating interactions between young people and local employers.
Following the success of the July Education and Business Summit, the plan is set to launch with several key initiatives:
• Shared Calendar: A central online calendar will coordinate employer engagement events throughout the 2024-25 academic year, making it easier for businesses and schools to work together.
• New Website: The new website will share success stories, provide event information, and update the community on career-related initiatives.
• Business Database: A central record of local businesses will be created, offering schools and colleges easy access to employer contacts and opportunities.
• Standards and Protocols: A set of service-level agreements will ensure clarity and quality in event planning, benefiting students and supporting businesses by maintaining high standards of engagement.
• Resource Library: A comprehensive library of career-related information will be available from December 2024, showcasing employment opportunities across different sectors.
The plan will be reviewed throughout the academic year with ongoing feedback taken into consideration to enhance the plan to make it the best it can be.
