There is still time for Isle of Wight schools and businesses to get involved in the Royal Yacht Squadron Foundation’s Maritime Careers Fair, and we’re encouraging as many people as possible to take come along.
Taking place at from 10am – 4pm on Thursday 1 October, the event will showcase the huge range of careers available across the Island’s maritime sector and beyond.
From marine engineering and boatbuilding to the Royal Navy, ferry and cruise operators, workboats, superyachts, training and specialist roles, there are opportunities far beyond the jobs young people might immediately associate with the maritime industry.
For schools
Bring your students along to explore different careers, meet employers and training providers, ask questions and discover pathways they may not have considered.
Younger students can use the day to explore and get inspired, while older students can take advantage of careers advice, interview guidance and one-to-one support. There will also be vessels and boats to explore.
For businesses
If you work in the maritime sector, this is a great opportunity to showcase your industry, meet young people and help raise awareness of the careers available on and off the Island.
You never know who might be your future apprentice, employee or colleague.
Island Careers Partnership will be there supporting the event, helping to connect local education and employers and champion the importance of giving young Islanders meaningful encounters with the world of work.
Come along, get involved and help young people see what could be possible on their doorstep.
