Businesses Invited to Support Work Experience Broadcast for Parents

Local employers on the Isle of Wight are being invited to share their insights and help support the next generation through an upcoming broadcast organised by the Solent Careers Hub.

The pre-recorded webinar will be aimed at parents and carers, helping them understand the value of work experience and how they can support their children in finding meaningful placements.

Work experience plays a vital role in helping young people build confidence, develop essential workplace skills, and gain a better understanding of the world of work. For many students, a placement provides their first opportunity to experience a professional environment and begin exploring potential career paths.

The Solent Careers Hub is looking for two employer representatives to contribute their perspectives. Businesses will be asked to share:

  • Why their organisation offers work experience placements
  • How early workplace experiences help young people develop employability skills
  • Practical advice for parents seeking opportunities within the Island’s local economy

Employer engagement is a key part of delivering the Gatsby Benchmarks, which underpin high-quality careers education in schools – particularly encounters with employers and experiences of workplaces.

To make participation simple, contributions will be pre-recorded, allowing businesses to take part at a time that suits them. Recordings will be used in a broadcast scheduled for Tuesday 5 May.

Businesses interested in representing the Isle of Wight employer community are encouraged to get in touch.

Deadline for expressions of interest: Wednesday 8 April 2026
